PHILADELPHIA (March 3, 2022) — Verified Voting, a non-partisan organization focused on the critical role technology plays in election administration, announced today that Pamela Smith will serve as President and CEO.

“We are thrilled to have Pam take the helm of Verified Voting. Pam’s extensive experience in the election security space, familiarity with Verified Voting and deep commitment to our work will ensure that Verified Voting will continue to effectively advance election security best practices,” said Barbara Simons, Board Chair.

Pam plays a national leadership role in safeguarding elections and building working alliances between advocates, election officials and other stakeholders. Pam joined Verified Voting in 2004, serving as President from 2007-2017 and most recently as a Senior Advisor. She is a member of the National Task Force on Election Crises and also provides public testimony on election security issues at federal and state levels throughout the U.S. She is the author of and contributor to numerous key reports and issue briefs on protection of secret ballots, principles of post-election audits, state voting readiness, voting system testing and certification, accessible ballot marking principles and other matters relating to election administration and verification.

“I’m honored to serve again as the President and CEO of Verified Voting,” said Pam. “I believe deeply in Verified Voting’s mission and am dedicated to strengthening and protecting U.S. elections. As we approach the 2022 midterms, it is more important than ever to help voters have justified confidence in our elections and give election officials the tools and support they need for a smooth election cycle.”

Verified Voting continues its commitment to strengthening democracy for all voters by promoting the responsible use of technology in elections and remains steadfast in its work in the leadup to the midterm elections. There is still much to do to secure our elections, and Verified Voting’s staff is continuing to work closely with election officials, implementing audits, advocating for best practices, researching election technology and providing the necessary resources and tools.
