Verified Voting Welcomes Tina Barton to its Board of Directors
The veteran election expert and public service official joins the mission to advance safe and secure elections
PHILADELPHIA — Verified Voting, a leading national organization dedicated to strengthening democracy for all voters by promoting the responsible use of technology in elections, today announced that Tina Barton, a nationally recognized election administration expert and longtime public servant, has joined its Board of Directors.
Barton brings more than 32 years of government service across the federal, county, and municipal levels. For over two decades, she has focused on election administration, including eight years as City Clerk for the City of Rochester Hills. Her experience spans frontline election management, national policy development, and cross-sector collaboration to strengthen election security and resilience, and she has helped advance best practices in areas such as chain of custody, election worker protection, and operational security.
“Tina’s expertise in election security is both extensive and deeply practical,” said Barbara Simons, Board Chair of Verified Voting. “She understands the real-world challenges election officials face and brings an exceptional combination of technical knowledge and operational experience needed to address those challenges. Her insight will be essential as we continue to support election officials and strengthen voter confidence.”
“Tina has long been a trusted and respected leader in the election community,” said Pamela Smith, President & CEO of Verified Voting. “Her decades-long commitment to improving election systems and supporting the people who run them aligns closely with Verified Voting’s mission to promote safe and secure elections. We’re excited to welcome her to the Board and look forward to the perspective and leadership she will bring to our work.”
Barton currently serves as Vice President of Ready for Tuesday and is a founding member and Co-Chair of the Committee for Safe and Secure Elections, a cross-partisan coalition focused on protecting election workers and voters. She also serves on the Board of Directors of the Center for Tech and Civic Life, is a Fellow with the League of Conservative Election Professionals, and previously held roles as a Senior Election Expert at The Elections Group and Senior Program Advisor to the Executive Director of the U.S. Election Assistance Commission, where she continues to serve on the EAC Board of Advisors.
