PHILADELPHIA (September 14, 2026) — In response to the Supreme Court’s decision rejecting President Donald Trump’s mail ballot restrictions, Verified Voting’s President & CEO Pamela Smith released the following statement:
“Today the Supreme Court left in place the injunction halting implementation of the ill-advised USPS Rule that would have put unlawful requirements between voters and their mail ballots. Election officials have spent months preparing ballots, coordinating with the U.S. Postal Service, and putting systems in place to ensure voters can participate and that every ballot counts. The Court’s decision means no voter will be turned away or have their ballot rejected because of USPS’s last-minute rule changes.
“The past several weeks of manufactured chaos and uncertainty were unnecessary; the states run elections, and neither this Administration nor the USPS has any role as a gatekeeper for voters’ ballots. The priority must remain clear: protecting voters’ access to the ballot, maintaining transparent elections, and ensuring every eligible vote counts.”
